Approach and Anchoring

Enter Staniard Creek from the east, following the main channel toward the settlement. The creek is well marked and carries adequate depth for most cruising boats. Anchor in the wider sections or proceed to Kamalame Cay Marina for dockage.

The bottom is a mix of sand and grass; search for sandy patches to ensure the anchor sets properly. Holding is generally good once you find clean sand. The creek offers excellent all-around protection from wind and swell.

Kamalame Cay Marina

Kamalame Cay Marina maintains seven slips with water and ice available. The marina caters primarily to resort guests but welcomes visiting yachts when space permits. Contact the resort in advance to confirm availability.

The marina offers a refined base for exploring the region. Guests can arrange fishing guides, spa treatments, or simply relax on the resort's private beaches. Day rates for marina services are reasonable given the quality of the facility.

Fishing and Flats

Staniard Creek's surrounding flats rank among the best bonefishing grounds on Andros. Wade the edges at low tide or hire a local guide to pole the shallows. The Joulter Cays, a national park north of here, hold permit and bonefish on hard-sand flats extending for miles.

Staniard Creek village lies across the inlet from Kamalame Cay, offering a glimpse of local Andros life. A few small restaurants and shops serve the community. Stafford Creek, a few miles north, hosts additional fishing lodges.

From here, it is an easy day sail south to Fresh Creek for provisions and diving, or north to explore the protected waters of the Joulter Cays National Park. Staniard Creek makes an ideal midpoint base for cruising Central Andros.

Getting there

Staniard Creek lies approximately 3 nautical miles north of Fresh Creek on the east coast of Andros. Enter from the east and follow the channel to the anchorage or marina.
