The access road begins 3.7 miles south of the Palmetto Point crossroads, marked by a blue and yellow government Beach Access sign. Turn onto the dirt road and proceed approximately 0.4 miles to the beach parking area. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is helpful but not essential in dry conditions.

Marine Life Encounters

Beyond the reef fish along the rock ledges, Ten Bay Beach occasionally hosts larger marine visitors. Dolphins have been spotted swimming in the bay, and stingrays glide across the sandy bottom in search of food. Southern stingrays are particularly common and generally docile, though swimmers should shuffle their feet when wading to avoid startling them.

Starfish dot the sandy bottom, and shell collectors find an assortment of specimens washed up along the tide line. The diversity of marine life reflects the healthy ecosystem sustained by Eleuthera's relatively undeveloped coastline.

Getting there

Ten Bay Beach is located approximately 8 miles from Governor's Harbour. From the Palmetto Point crossroads, drive 3.7 miles south on Queen's Highway and look for the blue and yellow Beach Access sign on your right. Turn onto the dirt road and proceed 0.4 miles to the beach parking area. The road is passable in most vehicles but can become rutted after heavy rain. From Rock Sound, the beach is approximately 12 miles north. Bring all supplies as there are no facilities at the beach.
