Grand Bahama, The Bahamas

Grand Bahama Weather by Month

Grand Bahama, the northernmost major island in the Bahamas, offers year-round sailing with warm temperatures averaging 75-88°F. The dry season from November through April provides ideal conditions with steady trade winds of 10-12 knots, low humidity, and minimal rain. Summer months (May-October) are hotter and more humid with increased rainfall and lighter winds. As the closest Bahamian island to Florida (just 55 miles east of Palm Beach), Grand Bahama experiences slightly cooler winter temperatures than islands further south, occasionally dipping into the upper 60s when cold fronts pass through. Hurricane risk is elevated August through October, with September being the peak month for tropical activity. The island's extensive reef systems and protected harbors around Freeport make it an excellent sailing destination, particularly during the winter high season.

Best months to visit: November, December, January, February, March, April.
