About Exodus

Some trips are planned for years before anyone books them: four couples, a long-standing promise to sail the Bahamas together, and at last a week that works for everyone. Exodus is the boat we suggest for that group. Built in 2024, a year after the next-newest Bali we list, this Bali 4.4 gives each of her four double cabins a private head, so eight people get eight berths and nobody waits for a bathroom. Abaco Sail runs her from Conch Inn Marina in Marsh Harbour, and we take care of the booking.

The Bali layout shows its worth once the anchor is set. The glass door at the back of the saloon tilts up and out of the way, turning the galley, saloon and cockpit into one shaded space, so whoever is cooking is still part of the conversation. There is no trampoline at the bow. The foredeck is solid, with sunpads and seating, and a forward cockpit sits level with the saloon. Up on the flybridge, the group has another place to gather for an evening drink and watch the light go.

Under sail she is set up for a small crew. The headsail is a self-tacking jib, so a tack needs nobody working the sheets, and the main is a square-top Dacron sail. Twin 57 hp engines take over when the breeze fades. At 3.9 feet of draft she suits the shallow banks of the Sea of Abaco, though a few harbor entrances are best taken on a rising tide. Hope Town on Elbow Cay, Man-O-War and Great Guana are each a short sail from Marsh Harbour, and Little Harbour makes a longer day to the south.

Life aboard does not depend on a marina. The air conditioning runs at anchor as well as under way, there is an onboard generator, and a watermaker tops up the 227-gallon water tank. Snorkel gear comes for everyone aboard, along with a stand-up paddleboard, a cockpit grill, Bluetooth audio in the saloon and cockpit, and a freshwater deck shower. The mandatory Comfort Pack adds the dinghy and outboard, linen and towels, cruising and fishing permits, a chart briefing, a welcome pack, end-of-charter cleaning and a damage-deposit reduction waiver.

Weekly rates run from $6,132 in the August Low season (August 1 to 18) to $18,398 over Christmas and New Year, plus the mandatory Comfort Pack at $1,050 for the first week and $630 for each week after. Rates already include the 10% Bahamian VAT, and the 4% cruising tax is charged on top. The honest trade-off is the premium for the newer build: her sister Ptarmigan, a 2023 Bali 4.4 with the same layout, costs less in every season. One practical difference runs the other way: Exodus is registered for ten passengers, Ptarmigan for nine.

Operated by Abaco Sail at Conch Inn Marina

All twelve Abaco Sail catamarans we list start and finish their charters at Conch Inn Marina in Marsh Harbour, the main town on Great Abaco. Abaco Sail's own dock team prepares each boat, hands her over at Slip 14 and takes her back at the end of your trip, and the sheltered water of the Sea of Abaco begins just outside the harbour.

FAQ

Exodus: common questions

How many guests can Exodus take?

Exodus has eight berths across four double cabins, every one with its own head, and her papers register her for ten passengers. Eight is the party she is laid out for. If nine or ten of you are coming, tell us when you enquire and we'll confirm with Abaco Sail where the extra guests would sleep before you commit.

How much does a week on Exodus cost?

Her 2026/27 weekly rates run from $6,132 (August 1 to 18) to $18,398 (December 24 to January 6), with Prime Winter, March 1 to April 17, at $14,495. The mandatory Comfort Pack is $1,050 for the first week and $630 for each extra week. Rates already include the 10% Bahamian VAT, and the 4% cruising tax is charged on top. There is a refundable $1,500 security deposit, and you pay 50% at booking and the remainder 45 days before you sail. Fuel is not included.

What's the difference between Exodus and Ptarmigan?

They are sister ships: both Bali 4.4s with four en-suite double cabins, a 24.3-foot beam, 3.9 feet of draft, the same tank sizes and the same equipment list. Exodus was built in 2024 and Ptarmigan in 2023. Exodus is registered for ten passengers to Ptarmigan's nine, and carries a square-top Dacron mainsail where Ptarmigan has a full-batten main. Ptarmigan costs between $467 and $1,403 less per week, depending on the season.

Do we need our own skipper to charter Exodus?

Only if you want to sail her bareboat, in which case your party needs a qualified skipper. Tell us about that person's experience when you enquire and we'll check it with Abaco Sail. If nobody in your group fits, or you'd simply rather not skipper, a local skipper can be arranged through the operator. Exodus is not offered with a chef or full crew.

Where can Exodus go in a week?

A week covers a good part of the Sea of Abaco. With 3.9 feet of draft she handles the shallow banks, and the central cays, Hope Town, Man-O-War and Great Guana, are short sails from Marsh Harbour. Little Harbour to the south is a longer day, with an entrance to time with the tide. Going north to Green Turtle Cay means the Whale Cay passage, a stretch of open Atlantic crossed only in settled weather. The Comfort Pack includes a chart briefing on the Sea of Abaco before you leave the dock.
